The Near Death Ensemble is a self-described conspiracy of sound, a magical cocktail of improvised music encompassing many styles and featuring an international group of musicians. They've played popular venues in Barcelona, including City Hall, Harlem Jazz Club, Café Marula, Café Royale and Arco de la Virgen, as well as local music festivals. Their sound is a mix of cinematic, modern jazz, post-rock, krautrock, electronic, soundscape, free jazz, free funk, hip-hop jazz noir and Afro-funk. Influences include Bill Laswell, John Zorn, Miles Davis, Trans Am, Mogwai, Tortoise, Marc Ribot, George Clinton, Sun Ra, Ornette Coleman, Boards of Canada and Aphex Twin, among others.
