Summer Nights at the CaixaForum 2014: Ray Lema

Ray Lema is one of Africa's, and the world's, most innovative, creative artists, moving from the tribal communities of Zaire to the lit streets of Europe. This intrepid path strengthened his artistic talent resulting in some of the best recordings of African music. Though his musical preferences have made him the object of criticism in his country - where the musical trends are more traditional with, on the one side, the academic ambiance of the schools and, on the other, the rumba and soukous played in the bars - his interest in music transcends his country's borders. This global, multicultural vision, incorporating numerous influences, has seen his career take off in Europe and on major stages around the world.
