The second day of Sónar by Day sees the debut of the much-awaited new show from one of the biggest Spanish artists at the moment, Rosalía, who, after success working with Refree – who will also perform solo at the festival – presents 'El mal querer' (2018), her new album everyone's been waiting for, from which she's released just one powerful track, 'Malamente', and which should come along with a new live format and new sound that goes beyond flamenco with production by El Guincho. Another big draw on Friday is 'Diplo presents', where the American DJ and producer meets up once again with his favourite emerging African artists for a live showcase with Distruction Boyz (South Africa), Mr EAZI (Nigeria) and Kampire (Uganda), which Diplo himself closes out. Also enjoy the audiovisual experience that will be the concert by English producer, composer and DJ SOPHIE, who has challenged and redefined pop culture ideas with music that is hard yet addictively pop; the new sound and light show from German artist Carsten Niolai, better known as Alva Noto; the enigmatic Italian Liberato, the new king of urban music in his home country; the always impressive American artist Laurel Halo; new British talent from DJ Jamz Supernova; and Islandic artist Ólafur Arnalds, who's back at Sónar to present a new album while it's still in its gestation period with an ensemble of instrumentalists brought together specially to accompany him in this new phase of his career.
