The biggest day of this year's Say It Loud festival is the classic 8h Reggae Run in the Ateneu Popular 9Barris in the neighbourhood of Nou Barris. It kicks off at 6pm with the free event, 'Mujeres y Reggae', which features the presentation of 'The Bass of Women', with filmmaker Joana Fornós Bo in attendance, as well as What About The Half, a feminist collective of artists. Afterwards they all participate in a roundtable about women and reggae, where they discuss their experiences as women participating in the Barcelona reggae music scene, along with Rosa Selectah (Ital Skol), selectors, sing-jays and dancers.
At 10pm, the reggae marathon gets underway with Sister Nancy, one of the most influential voices in the world of reggae, and a living legend in the culture, with a sound system format performance and accompanied by the veteran French collective Legal Shot. The Deadly Dragon, one of the most well-known Jamaican music groups in New York City, also take the stage, accompanied by the veteran Screechy Dan. As well as being extremely creative, Screechy Dan is one of the key artists when it comes to understanding the development of dancehall and its relationship to rap in the USA. What About The Half and Rebelmadiaq, the festival's resident sound system, round out this night for reggae addicts.
