Mercè 2015: Sant Andreu Jazz Band

The musicians in this band are between 12 and 19 years old, but they're mature and true musicians nonetheless, which you'll see for yourself during their big band concert. The group started in 2006 and is under the direction of Joan Chamorro, one of the biggest names on the Catalan jazz scene and the man who discovered up-and-coming singer and trumpet player Andrea Motis. After a tour of Japan with American saxophonist Scott Hamilton, Chamorro and Motis spent the summer playing in loads of festivals, and now they bring the season to an end with the city's big festival. Accompanying them are Luigi Grasso, Ignasi Terraza, Esteve Pi and Josep Traver.
