'I'm not my brother, I'm me', Freddy Cole sings as both a form of self-assertion and a statement of principles. The inevitable comparison with his brother Nat King Cole has not proved an obstacle, however, nor has it affected his determination to build a musical career. At 83 years of age, Cole continues to sit at a piano with a microphone and perform his own songs, inspired by John Lewis and Oscar Peterson with a voice to match the jazz greats like Billy Eckstine.
