Sara Fontán is a violinist in the broadest sense: she's an improviser, an explorer, a video artist and a pedagogue. She's participated in groups such as Árbol and Manos de Topo, and currently is co-founder of the video-dance project Piña (with Clara Tena), part of the Big OK group (with Paul Fuster and Edi Pou), and a member of the Orquesta del Caballo Ganador (conducted improvisation). Fontán present her new solo project at the International Experimental Music Meeting (LEM).
She shares the bill with the composer Sofía Faria and her project Dullmea, which she's been working on for two years, as part of a long career that's taken her to classical and contemporary music, jazz and composition for theatre. With minimalist beginnings, she experiments with her voice and various elements of sound modification, such as pedals, improvising on previously composed structures and pieces.
