Time Out in partnership with Gastronosfera
We're really excited about the first Saturday of La Mercè this year! And that's not really a surprise when you take a look at the line-up that Estrella Damm has put together for its annual music event whose venue has become a classic: Bogatell beach. The Escenari Mediterràniament stage hosts some of the most successful Catalan bands of recent times, meaning you enjoy great concerts with sand between your toes, a beer in hand and an unforgettable atmosphere.
9.30pm. Manel
Barcelona band Manel open the evening's proceedings, with the promise to pave the way for a night full of emotion. Since their beginnings 10 years ago, they've become one of the most-loved Catalan indie pop groups, and their most recent album, 'Jo Competeixo', shot to the top of the Spanish charts just a week after its release!
10.30pm. Txarango
With lyrics full of dreams and memories, rhythms that get you dancing non-stop, plus their distinctive rebel touch, this band has captivated a generation of music lovers. They travelled to Africa to record their latest record, 'El cor de la terra', which, unsurprisingly, is already a hit. Don't miss seeing them live; there's something inexplicably special about their performances.
1.30am. Buhos
This summer, their joyful, fun vibe has spread throughout Catalonia, as they've played numerous local festivals across the region. Now they're at La Mercè, all set to do the same thing for Barcelona. Buhos got together in 2005, but without a doubt, 2017 has been their year; get ready to discover their hit 'El temporal'!
