The lead vocalist for Steve Coleman and for Anthony Braxton's operas, Jen Shyu, comes to Jamboree for the first time to present her most personal work, the album 'Sounds & Cries of the World'. Considered one of the most surprising and original voices of avant-garde jazz, Shyu takes the stage with viola player Mat Maneri, son of saxophone player Joe Maneri and a regular in recordings by Cecil Taylor, Matthew Shipp, Joe Morris and William Parker. Rounding out the band is drummer Randy Peterson, who 'Jazz Times' called one of the best jazz drummers in recent years.
