Granted, American musician Aaron Abernathy didn't play Jamboree in its early days, though he has performed there more recently. But with his soul and R&B, the singer and pianist represents the spirit of Mas i Mas when the group took charge of Barcelona's jazz cave in 1993; these genres were first incorporated into Jamboree's club nights, and then into the live music line-ups. Abernathy comes to town with 'Dialogue' (2017), an album where he plays '70s soul in a contemporary key (Marvin Gaye, Sly & The Family Stone, Curtis Mayfield) and where he reflects on what it means to be an African-American man today.
