Most of the concerts in the 17th edition of the Barcelona Blues Festival are on in the Nou Barris district's Plaça Major on July 12 and 13, when Barcelona becomes the European capital of blues. The festival, which kicked off on July 3, has managed to get together quite the varied line-up, featuring jam sessions, album presentations and conferences, concerts in the Blues Nights cycle at Poble Espanyol, and more intimate concerts in singular spaces. The festival once again places special emphasis on blues concerts with a conscience, such as performances at the Vall d'Hebron Hospital by Big Mama Montse, and at the Sant Boi Mental Health Centre and the CRI Les Planes by students from the Barcelona Blues School. The music you'll see and hear live is a perfect mix between local talent and international figures. The headliners in the Nou Barris Plaça Major are Juan Pablo Cumellas & Miguel Talavera, Keith Dunn & Balta Bordoy and The Bad Boys, Mike Wheeler & Alex Zayas Band, Koko Jean & The Tonics, The Ramblers and 'Maestros del Blues' by the musicians Marco Ruiz, Ivan Kovacevic, Chino, Big Dani Perez, Mario Cobo, Santos and Victor Puertas, the first promoters of the Barcelona Blues School, which this year is commemorating its 10th anniversary.
