Music with African American roots invades the Music Hall with the great female voices of Barcelona's soul scene. Curtcircuit joins forces with Blackcelona, one of Catalonia's most active platforms set up to spread the word about the region's urban music, to bring a couple of acts to town to celebrate International Women's Day, held on March 8 worldwide. Taking the stage will be the Soul Sisters Blackcelona, whose members include Koko-Jean Davis (The Excitements), Marina Torres (Marina BBface & The Beatroots), Ster Wax (Wax & Boogie), Leila, Izah, Clara Dini (formerly of The Black Belton, B-Funk) and Laia Soulvador (formerly of JizzyFree, Motherfunkers). The Soul Sisters Blackcelona will be joined by one of Catalonia's great deep-funk and soul bands, The Slingshot. Get a glimpse into the history of soul, R&B and funk from the '60s, '70s and '80s against the backdrop of the great American divas, but with an eye on the present.
