Tropic of Cancer is the project of Los Angeles–based artist Camella Lobo. She made her debut in 2009 with an EP on the British techno label Downwards. For her first three outings she collaborated with Juan Mendez a.k.a. Silent Servant and, starting in 2011, Tropic of Cancer became a solo project for Lobo, where she explores the space between post-punk and minimal wave, with solemn synthesizers and a voice charged with reverb and distortion. Her LP 'Restless Idylls' (2013) has led to her preparation of a second album, which is set to come out this year. For DNIT, Lobo is accompanied by guitarist Taylor Burch of DVA DAMAS and sound engineer Joseph Cocherell.
