Is it possible to fight the system with hip hop, a party mood and sense of humour? That's just what Boots Riley's been doing for more than a decade as the frontman of The Coup. The group out of Oakland, California, has evolved since its classic rap MC and DJ beginnings, through to its current line-up of live rap, funk and soul, with instruments even. For the first time on the Catalan stage, The Coup brings us up to date with their sixth album, 'Sorry to Bother You' (2012), which includes danceable political tunes such as 'The Magic Clap', which dares to advise the U.S. National Security Agency – always ready to curtail the freedoms of American citizens under the guise of protecting them – that they are the bomb.
