It's the seventh edition of the Día de Brasil in Catalonia, a party dedicated to spreading Brazilian popular culture with workshops, capoeira demonstrations and dances open to everyone, traditional food, and a whole lotta music, this year from noon to 11pm in the Parc del Fòrum. Highlights for this edition are performances by singer-songwriter Aleh Ferreira, who started his musical career in the 1990s with a Bantu reggae band and who is one of the most influential artists on the Brazilian samba-rock scene; Emicida, a top player in the new generation of Brazilian hip hop, who has been called the Brazilian Jay-Z; Carrossel de Emoçoes, a band that brings back Rio funk hits from the 1990s; Verlander Gomes, who will play with the band Flor Serena, pioneers in bringing back the typically Brazilian musical genre 'forró' and who have won over audiences across their native country; and Yorubahia, a band with Afro-Brazilian roots that fuses danceable styles like the samba, reggae and afoxê.
