Among those musicians who have promoted the unique sound of the Hammond B-3 organ around the world, Jimmy McGriff was one of the most unique exponents. His death in May 2008 silenced a technique and way of playing that were unlike anybody else's, and is completely unrepeatable. The idea here, seven years later, is to remember his legacy through some of those who inherited his knowledge, such as those who make up the Blackcelona Hammond Groove Experience. Led by Victor Puertas, this collective, which includes soul, jazz and funk musicians, seeks to highlight the quality of a musician who translated into the language of the Hammond B-3 a good part of the repertoire of Ray Charles and Count Basie like nobody else, as well as creating his own compositions, which have become classics of the genre in their own right.
