Blackcelona 2014: The Slingshots

The Slingshots are set to open the fourth edition of Blackcelona Explosion!, La Muestra de Música Negra de Barcelona, a festival of 'black music' that goes on until 10 May. To English speakers, the term 'black music festival' may seem as absurd as a celebration of red-headed painters or a showcase of beardless dancers. But this festival is more concerned with connecting the dots between the different musical genres of the African diaspora. The Slingshots were born out of the idea of ​​remembering and recalling the rhythmic energy of deep funk, warm soul vocal melodies and the instrumental richness of jazz, from its origins to today. Their live show features well calculated rhythms and sweet melodies, able to transmit music with their whole body to anyone listening who wants to dance.
