50th Voll-Damm Festival Internacional de Jazz de Barcelona: Chassol

Stellar collaborations with contemporary R&B favourite Frank Ocean and French pop stars like Sébastien Tellier and Phoenix have helped pianist and singer Christophe Chassol to be recognised as the incredible talent he is, and one to watch. The creation of 'ultrascore' (a technique incorporating music, images and sounds from everyday life) makes Chassol an audiovisual maverick. His way of experimenting with sounds from India, New Orleans and the Caribbean island of Martinique (where Chassol's family come from) spotlights an interesting way of listening to jazz, as well as music in general. As part of L'Auditori's Sit Back cycle, and in collaboration with the music documentary film festival In-Edit, Chassol presents music (and images) from Indiamore, a journey through the Indian cities of Calcutta and Benares, filled with music, sounds and ambience.
