Ten years ago, Robert Glasper was one of the youngest stars in the constellation of great up-and-coming jazz pianists. In just two years, the career of this Texas-born New York resident shot from zero to infinity. The earliest influence Glastper can remember was his mother Kim Yvette Glasper, a professional blues singer who couldn't afford a babysitter and took little Robert to the clubs where she performed. Now that his sound has been electric for quite some time, Robert Glasper has reinterpreted Miles Davis on the soundtrack for 'Miles Ahead' (2015), and his band Robert Glasper Experiment has released 'ArtScience' (2016), a mix of jazz, funk, soul, rock, hip hop, blues, electronica and pop.
