48th Voll-Damm Festival Internacional de Jazz de Barcelona: Madeleine Peyroux

American artist Madeleine Peyroux, one of the great female voices of jazz today, performs with the two musicians who have accompanied her on stages in the last two years, guitarist Jon Herington and bass player Barka Mori-Peyroux, as they present 'Secular Hymns' (2016), an album recorded in a 12th-century English church. The LP features versions of seminal blues and gospel tunes (Willie Nixon, Lil Green and Rosetta Tharpe), from contemporary singer-songwriters (Tom Waits, Townes Van Zandt and Allen Toussaint) as well as African-American spirituals.
