Bebo Valdés always said, 'The day I die, I don't want a bunch of crying. Make a CD of my most danceable music, buy rum and chocolate, and dance.' He was a musical giant, and he passed away on 22 March. Those involved with the Barcelona Jazz Festival are proud of the special relationship Bebo had with it, and to carry out his wish, the festival, in accordance with Chucho Valdés, Bebo's son, heir and above all, friend, has organised a rumba to celebrate Bebo's life and legacy, his smile and his wisdom. Travelling companions, old and new friends – everyone's coming together to throw a giant rumba party, just as Bebo 'El Caballón' would have wanted.
