'Magia negra', the debut record from Omara Portuondo, was released in 1959 and saw the legendary singer combine Cuban music with US jazz. Known as a key proponent of the 'feeling' genre and diva of the Buena Vista Social Club, she is enjoying, at 84, a second youth, artistically speaking. To celebrate her renewed creativity, Portuondo has re-recorded 'Magia negra' with new arrangements. Amongst the musicians who accompany her here, at what is her first show at the Festival del Mil·lenni, the stand-out name is Roberto Fonseca. Despite being only 39, the Havana musician, has already established a solid career both with solo performances and tours and releases with the likes of Buena Vista Social Club, Rubén González, Ibrahim Ferrer, Cachaito, Guajiro Mirabal and Manuel Galbán.
