Casal Lambda hosts 'My Brother the Devil' (UK, 2012), director Sally El Hosaini's film debue, which, with great respect, shows the difficulties of accepting homosexuality in such a hostile environment as a London working-class neighbourhood dominated by drugs, social exclusion and violence. The story is of Mo, a teenager brought up in a traditional Egyptian family, but outside the modest flat where he lives with his parents and older brother there's a whole different world: the streets of Hackney. Mo idolizes his brother, Rashid, a charismatic member of a local gang, and wants to follow in his footsteps. The film is shown in its original language (English) with subtitles in Spanish/Catalan. A discussion follows the screening.
