The fact that Paul Bowles is less well known than other writers of his generation, such as William S. Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac, is perhaps due to the fact that, after a nomadic life in the early 1950s, the author, who shied away from public life, decided to settle in Tangier. Far from the bustle of the literary world, the city became home to Paul and his wife, Jane, who was a lesbian. The documentary (Switzerland, 2012), based on emotional interviews made shortly before his death, explores his life and work.
