A young woman (Marilyn Monroe) who goes to Reno to get a divorce, as one did in those days, meets an ageing cowboy (Clark Gable) and decides to stay a few days on his property. Not long after, he discovers a herd of wild horses in the mountains. With the help of an expert rodeo cowboy (Montgomery Clift), he decides to capture them and sell them for their meat. This was the final film both Gable and Monroe were to make before their deaths.
