Doc McCoy (Steve McQueen) is serving a 10-year sentence for assault with a deadly weapon. Thanks to his wife, Carol (Ali MacGraw), a person with influence, he makes parole, but then the pair rob a bank. During the robbery one of their two accomplices and the guard are killed. The surviving accomplice chases them to kill them and grab the loot.
