Winner of a jury prize at Cannes, 'Il divo' looks at Giulio Andreotti – one of the most important Italian politicians of the past half-century – specifically the controversies that affected his seventh term as prime minister. In Italy, Andreotti – baptised amongst other nicknames as Il Divo - has for many years been synonymous with power. Prime Minister seven times starting in 1946, he was put on trial in 1992 for his supposed links with the mafia, an organisation that he eventually had to confront.
