Cherien Dabis. USA, UAE, Canada, Kuwait, Jordan, 2009. Original language, Spanish subtitles. 96'.

Muna lives her life between the everyday fatigue of checkpoints in the West Bank and the shadow of a failed marriage. But everything changes when she's granted permission to live and work in the United States. Imagining a better future, Muna and her teenage son Fadi leave Palestine in search of a new life in a small town in Illinois, where they stay with Muna's sister, her husband and their three daughters. They go with the idea of striving to fit into another culture without losing their own, and are faced with an environment that, after the invasion of Iraq, looks sideways at the entire Middle East. However, Muna carries on with optimism, giving his son a lesson that he'll never forget.
