Cinema Low Cost, with its series of screenings and round tables, returns this year in a somewhat reduced version, in preparation for a return to full strength in 2015. A day of free cinema at the Arts Santa Mònica will see a premiere for 'Searching for Meritxell', the first full-length film from Burnin' Percebes, one of Barcelona's most interesting collectives. It also features cult Spanish production, 'Entre tinieblas' (1983), from Pedro Almodóvar. An old friend of Cinema Low Cost, Carlos Vermut (recently awarded a prize at San Sebastian for 'Magical Girl') will lead a discussion about Almodóvar's film ahead of the screening. To finish off the day, there'll be a performance by local indie faves Else de Alfonso y los Prestigio inspired by the early films of the Madrileño director.
