An older man and his son walk through miserable villages in Rome. Among unusual encounters are a talking a crow, and St Francis, who tells them to preach to the hawks and sparrows. Also showing is Pasolini's short 'La sequenza del fiore di carta' ('The Sequence of the Paper Flower').
