When the world economy collapses, the only true winners are those who weren't invited to the party to begin with. Petey plays in a band and working in a porn warehouse, packaging and sending sexual paraphernalia to customers around the world. Ginger works the night shift in a bar reading the fortunes of those who have been hardest hit by the financial crisis. Petey and Ginger, both friends of the director, live on opposite coasts of the United States. Both stories start out with each fleeing from a difficult childhood. The film interweaves voices and images in order to show how ordinary citizens survive at the bottom of the pack in the United States today, in a no-man's land with their wishes and dreams, but somehow adapted to despair.
