Nanni Moretti. Italy. 2011. Original language, Spanish subtitles. 104'.
After seeing the famous 'fumata bianca', thousands of believers gather in Saint Peter's Square to welcome the new Pope. What they don't know is that he won't be coming out to greet them. He doesn't feel ready to take on such a great responsibility. While the Vatican works round the clock to find a solution, the Catholic world grows increasingly desperate because things are not following their natural course. Nanni Moretti gives us a biting, ironic comedy about a topic that is incredibly relevant in his country and this year in particular. Before the screening at Sala Montjuïc, we're treated to a live concert by the jazz quintet Swingapur (8.45pm).
