An extra day is added to the American indpendent film festival Americana, el Festival de Cine Inependiente Norteamericano de Barcelona, which takes place from March 1 to 5 with the Movistar Plus Sessions. On Tuesday, February 28, in the Cines Girona you can see three films presented in their original versions with Spanish subtitles, starting at 6pm: the youth adventure 'A Birder's Guide to Everything' (6pm); 'Mississippi Grind' (8pm), a road movie set in the world of gambling; and 'Alex of Venice' (10pm), a small independent film that focuses on its characters. The free sessions continue on March 4 with the Spanish premiere of 'Weiner' (8.15pm), by Josh Kriegman and Elyse Steinberg, a documentary about New York mayor candidate Anthony Weiner and the scandal that cost him the election. The film won the Critics' Choice Documentary Award for Best First Documentary as well as the 2016 Sundance Grand Jury Prize for U.S. Documentary. The sessions are free (entrance on a first-come, first-served basis, until the cinema is full), but you can reserve a spot via Facebook.
