Emio Greco and Pieter C. Scholten, directors of both Ballet National de Marseille and ICK Amsterdam, have spent two decades researching what they call 'the body in rebellion': an intuitive body confronted with music, with space; the body as the central axis of the creation of choreography. In this session the duo present two pieces, 'Two', a male/female duo/duel where one reproduces the gesture of the other and which is a response to the fascination Greco and Scholten with the idea of the double; and 'Bolero', where the choreographers break away from the classic versions of the famous Maurice Ravel ballet to embrace a contemporary approach. On a stripped-bare stage, eight dancers seem to be fighting against Ravel's monumental, repetitive score, in constant crescendo.
