Concept and staging: Jérôme Bel.
This piece was created in 2001 and is one of the emblematic works in the career of Jérôme Bel. The show examines the relationship between art and life, between the more colloquial and more refined, and constantly challenges the audience's expectations. On an unflourished stage, a DJ plays popular songs from different eras, while professional dancers and people with no experience in dance follow the instructions in the lyrics. 'The show must go on' was part of the repertoire of the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg between 2000 and 2005, and the repertoire of the Lyon Opera Ballet from 2007 to 2014.
