Sónar 2017 at Mercat de les Flors: èpica

In 'èpica', the new dance piece from dancer, choreographer, educator, researcher and writer Aimar Pérez Galí, four performers deliver their energy and offer themselves as space-time excitation agents in a session of epic techno. Fittingly, the performance is on as part of the programming of Sónar 2017. The dancers work in an ephimeral space that uses theatrical resources to produce an aesthetic experience operating on an affective, sensory level. At the same time the piece provides a platform for a feminist, post-colonial critical reflection, giving voice to the epic struggles that don't conform to the Western canon of heterosexual norms to generate an alternative paradigm toward freedom.
