A Mary Wigman Dance Evening

In this piece, a winner of the Jardin d'Europa prize, Ecuadorian dancer and choreographer Fabián Barba gets inspiration from iconic German dancer Mary Wigman's performances from her first American tour (1930-1931). Using videos of Wigman dancing as well as other sources (photos, texts and press reviews), Barba reconstructs nine solos that make up an invaluable choreographic document and tells us about the history of contemporary dance via a story that's both personal and collective.
