After giving us a recommendation, the waiter brings out a bottle of Frantz Saumon Sauvignon Blanc. I lift the drink, and soon a smile replaces the glass on my lips. On the wall hangs a catalog of the best healthy wines in the Born. The message is clear: at L'Ànima del Vi, they only work with natural wines with no additives that have managed to avoid chemical interference and human manipulation to reach your palate in their purest state.
The white evaporates like water in the desert. We decide to line our stomachs with an amazing octopus and potato salad. Then we get carried away and allow ourselves the luxury of ordering delicate and tasty duck pâté with toast to get in touch with the French allure of the place.
L'Ànima del Vi is an elegant Catalan-French mash-up – there’s a gorgeous old piano, worn marble, wooden chairs, a replica of ‘Guernica’, vintage crockery ... the list of unique features goes on. But their passion for natural wines is what really makes the collection at L'Ànima del Vi something of a majestic exhibition of varieties that sometimes, unfairly, diminishes the role of the small treasures from the kitchen in the back.
