Open this door with the key of imagination. Then, you will find another dimension. A dimension of sound, sight and mind. You’re entering the unknown dimension of the Bodega de Reubén, one of the last authentic places in the Raval who takes pride in repelling the guiri virus.
"By order of the Superiority, it's prohibited to sing in this establishment," says a sign in the back of the place. You'll also see another that prohibits consumption and drug dealing, two slot machines and worn out wooden barrels and refrigerators. The grey-tiled floor is sprinkled with grease, napkins and Raval juice.
It’s part of the rare group that engulfs the essence of this unique neighbourhood, a bait for drinking freaks with their delicious tapas and drinks. La Bodega de Rubén faces the Filmoteca, where all of the hipsters gather. It’s one of the places with the most personality and (black) magic in the neighbourhood. Along with a few drinks, fried fish tapas, olives, homemade vermouth, and Rubén, it’s the perfect combination of the Raval! This bar has life; the conversations overheard show the true characters of Robador Street: prostitutes, Moroccans, progressive university students, wasted moviegoers and bad tempered grandmas. This is much more than a winery; it's a piece of the Raval that refuses to go away.
