The idea is simple and amazing at the same time. Glups! has a door that connects directly with Norma Editorial, one of the city's most popular comic shops. And the venue demonstrates its comic book soul thanks to author Daniel Torres’s magnificent mural (such wall designs are the identifying hallmark of any modern space), along with neutral furniture, warm pieces of wood and an up-to-date aesthetic for all tastes and ages. Try a gin and tonic with Seagram’s – it comes just as it should, in a wide glass and without vegetable slices– and pair it with some really delicious nachos or a perfect guacamole.
There’s not a huge range of alcohol, but that’s not really what will bring customers in. At Glups! they prefer to look after clients with a menu that’s otaku-friendly and features quality food for everybody: sandwiches, fries, premium burgers, wraps and gyoza. The fact that they haven’t set prices high makes going there even more worthwhile. In addition, in the spacious lower floor they celebrate special events related to comic books, and have screens to show football matches. But they still have one more ace up their sleeve, and you bet your Muscle Man Kubricks that it will make this the most sought-after spot among the nerd community when the good weather arrives: a majestic terrace on Passeig de Sant Joan where there’ll be duels to the death with lightsabers to grab a place. Long live Glups!
