Zona de banys del Fòrum

A beach without sand. At the Fòrum you can take a dip, but not on a traditional beach: this is an area won back from the sea with tons of concrete. At the Forum’s bathing area a stretch of seashore has been tamed to transform it into a giant, shallow, saltwater swimming pool, ideal for a splash. Many visitors are not aware that the Fòrum development was built on top of the Camp de la Bota, the area between Barcelona and Sant Adrià, the site of a tragic episode in the city’s history. This is where many victims of Franco’s reprisals were taken to be shot after the Civil War, as commemorated by the memorial on the esplanade that leads to the bathing area, a homage to more than 1,700 victims.
