Since 1984 and due to a decentralization process which started in 1979, the city of Barcelona has been divided into ten different districts, each one of them has autonomy and economic and decision-making faculties. Nou Barris is a district in the far north of the city, between the Collserola mountain and the district of Sant Andreu. It's bordered on the south by Horta-Guinardó and on the west by Collserola.
