The work of Danny Lyon, considered one of the most influential and original documentary photographers of the 20th century, stands out for how he implicated himself within the communities he photographed in the United States. 'Conversations with the Dead' is a series that illustrates a period of 14 months between 1967 and 1968, when Lyon photographed six prisons in the state of Texas. For the photographer, the Texas prison system has become a symbol of global imprisonment. This is the first of three photography series that the Colectania Photo Foundation will dedicate to Danny Lyon this season.
