This building is the work of Josep Maria Jujol, one of the great masters of Catalan Modernism. Jujol - an austere, modest and subtle architect, far removed from the twists and curves of some of his contemporaries - was commissioned to build Casa Planells by a small builder. With this work, dating from 1923 to 1924, the architect showed no need for huge plots or loads of resources to create immortal buildings. Casa Planells is perhaps one of the least known modernist monuments, but is certainly one of the most interesting and captivating.
