Time Out says

The first photographs by Jane Evelyn Atwood date back to 1976 and were taken of prostitutes in Paris. In fact, Atwood's professional career has been marked by a long involvement with the subjects she portrays, in a way she herself calls obsessive. Mecànic, a gallery of photographic art in Gràcia, presents 'Women in Prison', an emotional project in which Atwood has captured images from prisons in the United States and Europe for a decade, giving us an intimate and respectful look at the reality and daily life of women living in these institutions.
