This wonderful interior courtyard is a remnant from the old Lehmann Spielzeuge factory that produced porcelain dolls and tin toys from the late-19th century through to the Civil War (when it would also manufacture plates and cutlery for the Republican army). In the 1940s, the old factory complex began to fill with new inhabitants; the compartmentalisation of spaces and the coexistence of different projects are still the norm today, and publishing house Comanegra, the folks from Rooftop Smokehouse, the Tendencies TV team and other enterprises call this space home. They periodically organise markets that liven up the courtyard, where the original factory chimney still stands.
