With its beginnings set in the context of the American West Coast new expressionists, the work of Dennis Hollingsworth (Los Angeles, 1956) is characterised by the unusual use of oil as a bas-relief, living but laconic basic colours and the use of 'alla prima' technique, without corrections or glazes.
