Here’s our list of things to do at the Fair before it ends on December 22.

The biggest annual fair in Bangkok has been in full swing for days now but if you’re free this weekend, head on over to Lumphini Park and explore the many exciting booths and food stalls at the 142-acre site. Eat to your heart’s content, enjoy musical performances and cultural shows, shop for seasonal gifts and try your luck in the raffle–it’s all for a worthy cause. Here’s our list of things to do at the Fair before it ends on December 22.

Buy second-hand clothes

Although you will find numerous clothing outlets at the Fair, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has a booth at which you can buy second-hand apparel ranging from business suits to summer frocks at very affordable prices. If you are lucky enough to be visiting at the right time, there’s a 20-minute golden period during which you can fill a bag for only B100.

Drink Milo chocolate

The main drink of the Red Cross Fair, this iconic beverage is sold from green bus-like stalls. This year you can buy special collections of Moo Deng glasses for B45. Not just pigmy hippo-inspired glasses, their signature tumbler (B85) comes with a one-time refill.

Soak a Policeman

A fun variation on the 90’s Dunk Tank Girl but with a twist. Instead of a pretty girl sitting above the water waiting to be dropped in the drink, it’s a police officer. With just B30 and a good aim, you can have your sweet revenge on Bangkok’s finest. Give the boys in brown the cooler treatment at the Royal Thai Police booth.

Enjoy tropical ice cream

Tropical fruits and spices in an icy scoop by Moo Daeng help you stay refreshed throughout the day. If you love passion fruit and guava, try these seasonal ingredients in a fantastic Italian granita. For a local twist, add a sprinkling of salt and chilli for a real fire and ice experience. Specially discounted prices for the event.

Play Thai-style bingo

Soda bottle caps become Thai retro bingo chips. You can buy three bingo cards for just B50. In a twist from normal rules, everybody in this game can be a caller, so you too can select numbers from a jar. Winners pick up traditional fair prizes ranging from huge stuffed cuddly toys to household goods.

Dine on spicy northern sausages

Sausages packing a punch take centre stage with classic northern offerings such as moo yor (white pork sausage with pepper) and sai ua (spicy northern sausage) available at the My Mushroom stall. Starting from B60, you can enjoy easy eats while strolling the park. For a really piquant blast of the north, try one of the salamis (starting at B75).

Shoot balloon darts

Another funfair classic, challenge your skills at the oche and win prizes by picking off balloons with darts. A number of stalls offer this age-old sport but we recommend you play at the Royal Thai Police booth (where you can also soak a policeman, remember!)

Enter the lucky draws

No fair is complete without a prize raffle and at the Thai Red Cross’s 100th charity fair there are plenty of lucky draw prizes on offer. But you have to be ‘in it to win it’ as the saying goes. So, find out just how lucky you are and get hold of some tickets – you could clean up big time and you’ll be doing your bit for charity in the bargain.
