Time Out says

Come to shop, sip freshly brewed coffee, enjoy elegant fare by one of the world’s most esteemed chefs, and brush up on fashion history at LV The Place Bangkok, Louis Vuitton's new concept store, which made its world debut in Thailand this month at Gaysorn Amarin in Ratchaprasong.

LV The Place will first blind your eyes with an over-the-top illuminated facade that’s obviously derived from the French brand’s iconic monogram pattern, which was first created in the 1950s. Behind this glittering facade are two floors of luxury goods as well as indulgent experiences.

The first floor is home to Le Café, the designer brand’s first cafe in Thailand, which offers an array of gorgeously presented cakes and cookies (said to be prepared by Blue by Alain Ducasse pastry kitchen) along with coffee bearing the LV monogram. How expensive, you may ask? Cakes are priced from B550 while cookies go for B1,700 for a box of five. But if you’re taking them home, they do come in the signature Louis Vuitton orange-hued box. And that’s almost worth the extravagant prices.

Half of the first floor also hosts an immersive and interactive exhibition that takes you on a journey through the brand’s history and past collaborations. It’s a fun and awe-inspiring way of learning all about the French brand.  Entry is free, although you would need to pre-book.

The second floor sees the boutique, which carries a few store-exclusive items, and the much-hyped Gaggan at Louis Vuitton fine-dining restaurant by celebrated chef Gaggan Anand. Lunch is from B4,000 while dinner will set you back around B8,000.

Louis Vuitton aims to take this more ‘lifestyle’ store concept to other cities around the world later on. LV The Place is open daily from 10:00 to 20:00

Louis Vuitton x Murakami

Louis Vuitton has reimagined the Visionary Journeys exhibition at LV The Place Bangkok to celebrate the return of the Louis Vuitton x Murakami collection, featuring Zendaya. The exhibition begins with the Trunkscape entrance hall, designed by Japanese architect Shohei Shigematsu of OMA. This features 96 Courrier trunks encircled by animations showcasing Takashi Murakami's vibrant characters and motifs, including Monogram Multicolore, Superflat Panda, Onion Head and Cherry Blossom. The next area, the Collaboration room, now displays seven iconic pieces from previous collections between 2003 and 2009, including the Eye Love Monogram Speedy and Onion Head Monogram Briefcase. The exhibition concludes with a newly created room dedicated to Murakami's Superflat Monogram and Superflat First Love, both inspired by Alice in Wonderland. Until Apr 30. Free. Reserve via here.
