Zakuzaku is one of those names in the go-to lists of Tokyo-bound tourists. The Harajuku sweet shop has become a hyped-up destination for being the birthplace of croquant choux, a photogenic cream-filled pastry stick coated with almond crunch. Now, you won’t need to wait until your next Japan holiday to savor the puffy treat as the first Bangkok branch of Zakuzaku has now opened at Siam Center. Taking over the space next to the entrance from Siam BTS station, the bakery has two specialties—croquant chou and soft-serve ice cream. The famed pastry is a decadent treat that features a tender puffy dough that’s filled with thick vanilla cream and coated with crispy almond (B75). Pair this treat—and survive the intense Bangkok heat—with their vanilla soft serve that’s made from fresh Hokkaido milk (B135).
